The Friends of Harmony barbershop chorus is honored to have Richard Lewellen as Master Director. An accomplished singer, coach and director, Richard started singing with quartets in Southern California. Richard Lewellen has won two district quartet championships as the bass of Pacifica (1982-83) in the Far Western District, and as the lead singer of Atlanta Power Company (1993) in the Dixie District. In 2004, Richard retired as the baritone of the four-time International Quartet Medalist, Riptide. He also was a lead singer in the Masters of Harmony chorus that won two gold medals in international competition. Richard became the musical director of the Alexandria Harmonizers in 2003 and led them to 4th place at both the 2004 and 2005 International Chorus Competitions. Richard now resides in Western New York State and is a full-time barbershopper, devoting his time to directing the East Aurora Friends of Harmony, coaching quartets and choruses, and singing with Empire State Quartet. Married to a talented tenor, Christina, they have two daughters, Morgan and Bryn.
